2.14.6 Transport mechanism

Paper feed section

The originals on the original table is fed by the original

transport belts from the bottom sheet of the stack. The

original transport belts are driven by the original feed

motor via the original feed magnetic clutch. The original

feed rollers are also driven by the original feed motor.

Intermediate transport section

The two transport roller shafts on the intermediate

transport guide plate are driven by the original feed

motor. The original is transported to the turn rollers

through this unit.

Transport belt section

The original feed motor drives the turn rollers, and the

transport motor drives the transport belt. The 1-way

clutch is built into the turn roller drive pulley so that the

rollers turn freely while the original is transported by the

transport belt. This also enables operators to remove

misfed paper from under the ADF.
The driven rollers are in contact with the inner surface of

the transport belt by spring tension. The dead weight of

the rollers are applied to the belt to prevent the original

from floating from the exposure glass surface.

The transport motor reverses to reverse the transport

belt drive after an original is fed on the exposure glass.

This returns the original against the scale to maintain the

proper stop position.
