2.2.2 Lighting mechanism
Exposure system
This equipment employs a flash exposure system for
high speed processing. The lighting unit is composed of
an xenon lamp and a curved face reflector.
Turn ON the start key. Charging begins in the flash
power supply, and a high voltage (DC -- 10 KV) is
applied to the trigger line. High voltages of 1,070 to
2,000 V are applied to both electrodes of the xenon lamp
to produce light immediately.
The emission time of the xenon lamp is only 170
microseconds. At this time the OPC is driven at a linear
speed of 430 mm a second, but the OPC movement
during exposure is only 0.07 mm. Continual exposure is
done without stopping the OPC.
Conditions for discharge of the flash power
For safety purpose, the power charged to light the xenon lamp is discharged under the following
conditions:
1. When a "Service Call" or "Error Reset" condition is detected and the machine is stopped during
copying or operating with the free run mode in the service tools.
2.
When an original or copy paper jam occurs and the machine is stopped during copying or operating
with the free run mode in the service tools.
3. When any doors are opened and the machine is stopped during copying or operating with the free
run mode in the service tools.
NOTE
When the above three conditions happen, the machine is stopped after an extra flash. The flash power
is discharged immediately.
