7.2 Power On/Off of Disk Array Unit
This section describes how to turn on or off the power of the disk array unit. Turning on or off the
power carelessly may cause some data to be broken, some software to operate incorrectly, and/or the
unit to be defected.
(1) Turning on AC power
a) Before turning on the power, check for loose disk drives by pushing each disk drive.
b) Turn on both power switches on the rear of the disk array unit.
If an additional FC disk enclosure is connected, first turn on two power switches on the rear
of the additional FC disk enclosure, and then turn on two power switches on the rear of the
disk array unit. Alternatively, turn on the disk array unit and all the additional FC disk
enclosures connected with the disk array unit at the same time.
The disk array unit and additional FC disk enclosure have the redundant power configuration
to prevent the entire unit from shutting down due to a single failure. Therefore, when turning
on the disk array unit, turn on all the power switches (of the disk array unit and additional FC
disk enclosures) at the rear of the unit.
When turning on the power switches, confirm that the POWER GOOD LED (green) of the
power supply and the POWER LED (green) on the front panel of the disk array unit and the
additional FC disk enclosure go on. Power supply starts, and the POWER LED (green) is on
while the power switches are on.
The disk array unit performs the self-test and initialization immediately after the power is
turned on. When the self-test and initialization terminate and the disk array unit becomes
ready, the DIR LED of the controller on the disk array unit stops lighting and starts flashing.
Confirm DIR LED status, and then turn on the host system.
The disk array unit takes seven minutes (at maximum) to start.

Turn on the power switches in the following order (1) to (3):
(1) Power switches of additional FC disk enclosure
(3) Host system
(2) Power switches of disk array unit
(May be turned on at the same time the power switches of additional FC disk enclosure are turned on.)
