W inter Driving Instructions
The m ost im portant rule for
slippery or icy roads is to drive
sensibly and to avoid abrupt ac
celeration, braking and steering
m aneuvers. Do not use the cruise
control system under such
conditions.
W hen the vehicle is in danger of
skidding, m ove selector lever to
position “N” or in case of m anual
transm ission declutch. Try to keep
the vehicle under control by
corrective steering action.
Road salts and chem icals can
adversely affect braking efficiency.
Increased pedal force m ay becom e
necessary to produce the normal
brake effect. W e therefore recom
mend depressing the brake pedal
periodically w hen traveling at
length on salt-strewn roads. This
can bring road salt impaired
braking efficiency back to normal.
A prerequisite is, however, that this
be done w ithout endangering other
drivers on the road.
If the vehicle is parked after being
driven on salt treated roads, the
braking efficiency should be tested
as soon as possible after driving is
resumed w hile observing the safety
rules in the previous paragraph.
W arning!
If the vehicle becom es stuck in
snow, m ake sure that snow is
kept clear of the exhaust pipe
and from around the vehicle
w ith engine running. O th er
w ise, deadly carbon m onoxide
(CO) gases m ay enter vehicle
interior resulting in uncon
sciousness and death.
To assure sufficient fresh air
ventilation, open a w indow
slightly on the side of the
vehicle not facing the wind.
Deep W ater
Caution!
Do not drive through flooded areas
or w ater o f unknown depth.
If you m ust drive through deep
water, drive slowly to prevent w ater
from entering the engine com part
m ent or passenger com partm ent,
or being ingested by the air intake,
possibly causing dam age to engine
or transm ission that is not covered
by the M ercedes-Benz Limited
W arranty.

A lw ays fasten item s being
carried as securely as
possible.
In an accident, during hard
