Battery
W arning!
Failure to follow these
instructions can result in
severe injury or death.
Never lean over batteries w hile
connecting, you m ight get
injured.
Battery fluid contains sulfuric
acid. Do not allow this fluid to
com e in contact with eyes,
skin or clothing. In case it
does, im m ediately flush
affected area w ith w ater and
seek m edical help.
A battery will also produce
hydrogen gas, w hich is
flam m able and explosive.
Keep flam es or sparks away
from battery, avoid im proper
connection of jum per cables,
sm oking, etc..
Battery replacem ent information:
The m aintenance-free battery is
located in the engine com partm ent.
The service life o f the battery is
dependent on its condition of
charge. The battery should always
be kept sufficiently charged, in
order to last an optim um length of
time.
Therefore, w e strongly recom
mend that you have the battery
charge checked frequently, and
corrected if necessary, esp e
cially if you use the vehicle less
than approxim ately 200 m iles
(300 km) per m onth, m ostly for
short distance trips, or if it is not
used for long periods of tim e.
Only charge a battery with a
battery charger after the battery
has been disconnected from the
vehicle electrical circuit.
Alw ays disconnect the battery
negative lead first and connect last.
W hen rem oving and connecting
the battery, alw ays make sure that
all electrical consum ers are o ff and

tion 0. The battery m ust alw ays be
securely installed w hen the vehicle
is in operation. During rem oval and
installation alw ays protect the
disconnected battery positive (+)
term inal with the cover attached to
the battery.
W hile the engine is running the
battery term inal clam ps m ust not
be loosened or detached, other
w ise the generator and other
electronic com ponents will be
dam aged.
B attery Recycling
Batteries contain m aterials that can
harm the environm ent with
im proper disposal.
Large 12 Volt storage batteries
contain lead.
Recycling of batteries is the
preferred m ethod of disposal.
M any states require sellers of
batteries to accept old batteries for
recycling.
