Children 12 years old and
under m ust never ride in
this vehicle, except in a
M ercedes-B enz authorized
B abySm art™ com patible child
seat, w hich operates with the
B abySm art™ system installed
in the vehicle to deactivate the
passenger side fro nt airbag
when it is properly installed.
O therw ise they will be struck
by the airbag when it inflates
in a crash. If this happens, se ­
rious or fatal injury will result.
Infants and small children
must be seated in an app ro ­
priate infant or child restraint
system , which is properly
secured with the v eh icle’s seat
belt, fully in accordance with
the child seat m an ufactu rer’s
instructions.
Warning!
Infants and sm all children
should never share a seat belt
w ith another occupant. During
an accident, they could be
crushed betw een the occupant
and seat belt.
C hildren too big for child re­
straint system s should use
regular seat belts. Position the
s houlder belt across chest and
shoulder, not face or neck.
A booster seat is necessary to
achieve proper belt position­
ing for children from 41 lbs. to
the point w here a lap/shoulder
belt fits properly w ithout one.
W hen the child restraint is not
in use, rem ove it from the
vehicle or secure it with the
seat belt to prevent the child
restraint from becom ing a
projectile in the event of an
accident.

com ply with U.S. regulations
w ithout the use of a tether strap.
