It is also very important to set the lower and

upper alarm limits for expired minute volume.

The inspiratory rise time should be set to a

comfortable value for the patient. In PS, the

inspiratory rise time should normally be

increased.

The End inspiration setting is important to

patient comfort and ventilator synchronization

with the patient. If the patient's expiratory

resistance is high, the End inspiration setting

should be raised to guarantee enough time for

expiration.

It is important to monitor how this affects the

tidal volume.
