Turn the handle (7) to CLOSE position (S), and loosen the
drain plug (8).

Drain the water until the red ring (9) contacts to the bottom
of transparent cup (10).

Tighten the drain plug (8).
10. Turn the transparent cup (10) counterclockwise to remove
it.
Remove the transparent cup (10) without spilling the fuel.
If the fuel spills, wipe them off with cloth thoroughly.
Be careful not to lose the red ring (9) in transparent cup
(10).
11. Remove the element (11) from top of the fuel prefilter, and
replace it with a new element.
12. Clean the inside of transparent cup (10) with diesel fuel or
flushing oil.
13. Install the element and O-ring (12) to transparent cup (10).
14. Insert the red ring (9) into transparent cup (10) and fill it
with fuel.
15. Check the condition of O-ring (12) installed to transparent
cup (10).
Replace the O-ring with a new one if needed.
16. Install the transparent cup (10) to top of fuel prefilter, and
tighten it clockwise.
Tightening torque:
27 to 33 Nm {2.8 to 3.4 kgm, 19.9 to 24.4 lbft}
17. Turn the handle (7) to OPEN position (O).
18. Install the undercover (6) with bolts (5).
19. After replacement of the element is completed, bleed air
from the fuel circuit.
For bleeding air, see “PROCEDURES FOR BLEEDING
AIR FROM FUEL CIRCUIT”.
20. Turn the rod (4) to FREE position (F), and close the cool-
ing cover (3).
21. Close the engine rear cover (1).
