XY View Screen - Aligning the Sample

2.

Use the theta movement arrows in the tool bar (in conjunction with the other 
arrow buttons as necessary) to rotate the chosen feature until it aligns with the 
X-axis on the XY view screen.

Click the 

 button for counterclockwise rotation. 

b.

Click the 

 button for clockwise rotation.

The Theta movement buttons may rotate the image past the point required 
to align the sample features with the X-axis. If this happens, the following 
adjustments to the theta movement can be made:

Check the Speed Setting in the 

Move

 menu. In the tool bar at the top 

of the XY view screen, click 

M

OVE

 to display the menu. (See 

Figure 

4.25

.) Three speeds (which are actually movement increments) are

Slow

Medium

 and 

Fast

. If the image always rotates past the 

X-axis, refine the movement by moving to the next slower 
movement. If the

 setting still does not allow alignment, move to

 dialog box (see Figure 4.2 on page -5) with each
