Networking DioCores (DioCore) Networks
For more complex networks, you may need to reverse the data
flow. In addition, Ethersound devices have a
LOOP
function
which reroutes the downstream data to the upstream flow.
The example below shows how a PC can be inserted in the
console’s audio network for external recording:
Because we do not want to jeopardise the live audio feeds, the
PC is inserted at the end of the Ethersound chain, and the
LOOP
function is activated in each device. This provides
absolute security in case the PC fails:
•
The DioCores are set to feed the network in a
Downstream direction (to the PC).
•
The PC receives the digital audio data and sends it back
Upstream towards the consoles.
•
If one of the devices fails, then the previous element in
the chain redirects the Upstream data towards the
Downstream data, without any break in audio.
This data flow requires a reversal of the usual Nova Upstream
and Downstream channel patching.
So, rather than pressing the [
SPACE bar
] to make a patch:
1.
Press [
D
] for a Downstream channel patch.
2.
Press [
U
] for an Upstream channel patch.
The channel direction is represented by a Down facing or Up
facing triangle within the PATCH grid.
Note that in this example it is the FOH console which is the
Ethersound Primary Master device; the Monitor console cannot
detect DioCores or change the data flow, but simply patch the
Ethersound channels to or from its faders.
