Ethersound (DioCore) Networks
Ethersound is an open protocol offering 64-channels of
bidirectional i/o via a CAT5 cable (up to 100m).
In a standard system, only one DioCore is supplied. However,
multiple DioCores may be connected to the Ethersound network
in order to distribute i/o to different physical locations. You can
connect as many DioCores as you like to the network, but only
4 may be active on each console at any one time. You can
select which 4 units you are using for the show, and how their
i/o maps onto the 64 Ethersound channels.
Ethersound may also be used to link I/O between consoles, or
to connect to third party Ethersound devices:
Note that the order of
IN
and
OUT
connections within the
network determine which device is the Ethersound Primary
Master. The Primary Master is the first device on the network; in
other words it will be left with its Ethersound
IN
port free. In the
example above, this is the FOH console.
This is important as it is the Primary Master device which can
automatically detect DioCores and assign channels and data
flow onto the Ethersound network. It is also the Primary Master
which can remotely control settings within the DioCores, and
other Ethersound devices.
This section describes the functionality available from the
Ethersound Primary Master device.
