5 Removing and replacing components

Step 2
Carefully grasp the adapter by its top edge or upper corners, and align it with the connector
on the I/O board.
Step 3
Press the adapter firmly into the adapter connector.
Step 4
Rotate the latch closed and push it down on the blue latch until it clicks into place, securing
the adapter.
Step 5
Connect any required cables to the adapter.
Step 6
Install the top cover (see “Replacing the top cover”).
Step 7
Connect the cables and power cords (see “Connecting the cables” for cabling instructions).
Step 8
Turn on all attached devices and the server.

Removing the battery
To remove the battery, complete the following steps:
Step 1
Read the safety information and “Installation guidelines”.
Step 2
Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external
cables as necessary to replace the device.
Step 3
Remove the top cover (see “Removing the top cover”).
Step 4
Locate the battery (see “I/O-board connectors”).
Step 5
If any PCI adapters are blocking access to the battery, remove them (see “Removing an
adapter”).
Step 6
Remove the battery:
1.
Use one finger to push the battery horizontally out of its housing.
2.
Lift the battery from the socket.
Step 7
Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
