Configuration Software

Software Control

Two software programs are required to configure the touch panel:
• GUI Configurator
• Global Configurator.
Both are included on the disc provided with the TLP 350CV and are also available

free on the Extron website at

www.extron.com

. Each contains an extensive help

file to guide project development.
GUI Configurator is a Windows

-based application for designing the layout of

Extron TouchLink

™

Panel projects. The projects provide touch link panel control

and operation of Extron IP Link products.
The GUI also provides local functionality to control objects (e.g. buttons) within

the project. For example, a main page with a button labeled "Audio" can be set to

open another page containing buttons specific to selecting and controlling a piece

of audio equipment. Each of those buttons could in turn open other pages or they

could provide direct control of the equipment.
Projects are built offline and when complete, uploaded to the touchpanel. After the

project is uploaded, Global Configurator is required to assign control functions to

buttons and other items in the layout.
GUI Configurator offers several templates designed to manage control system

devices. Once a template is loaded into the application, customize and configure it

to meet the needs of a specific A/V system.
These two programs provide versatility and adaptability for configuration and

control of an A/V system as it grows and evolves.

Installing Software

System requirements

The minimum system requirements for a PC running GUI Configurator or

Global Configurator are:
• Minimum 800 MHz Pentium

, AMD Opteron

™

, AMD Athlon

™

, or

AMD Athlon XP (Intel 1.2 GHz or better recommended)

• Minimum 512 MB RAM (1 GB recommended)
• GUI Configurator: 100 MB free hard disk space (with an additional 280 MB for

the .NET 2.0 Framework), Global Configurator: 50 MB of hard disk space

• Minimum 800 x 600 resolution screen with 16-bit color (1024 x 768 with 32 bit

color recommended)

• Microsoft

Windows

XP and later versions of Windows

If running the Windows Vista

operating system, run Global Configurator

as a limited user. As with previous Global Configurator versions, if running
Windows XP the user must be logged in as an administrator.

• 10 Mbps network connection (100 Mbps recommended)
• Internet Explorer

version 6.0

• Windows compatible mouse (or other pointing device)
