9.2 Functioning of the descaling system.
The cleaning system will automatically descale the water tank at certain intervals. These intervals
depend on the effective working time (heating time of heating elements) and the pre-set water
hardness level. They do not depend on the total “switched on” time which may have certain in-
tervals without actual steam production. After the descaling the water tank will be rinsed and
drained. High pressure blast of water directed at the drain will help to split scale flakes into smaller
pieces and clear them out of the tank during the draining.
The descaling cycle will start if the calculated time interval for cleaning is reached and the steam
generator remains idle (no steam production) for 45 minutes. This is interpreted as the end of the
steam operation session and the cleaning cycle may start. In the case the steam generator is oper-
ated in a manual non-stop mode a forced descaling cycle will be carried out after 24 h of operation.
The descaling cycle will be also started if the steam generator has reached the calculated time
for cleaning and has been disconnected from power and then re-connected to the power supply
again. If required the descaling cycle can be also launched manually (service level settings, see
chapter Service & Setup).
By pending or running descaling the corresponding symbol
will be shown in the display.

Important Notice
Make sure to check the water hardness with your local water supplier.
In the case the water hardness is above 11°dH a suitable water softening system should be
installed in the water supply line ahead of the steam generator.
The operation of the steam generator with the too high water hardness may cause malfunc-
tions and will make all warranty obligations void.
