Procedure for Submaster
The PXG200E supports various types of submasters. Some types of
submasters are communications centers that allow the PXG200E to monitor
many devices that have similar communications protocols. This simplifies
the network communications wiring. For example, the Breaker Interface
Module II (BIM II) is a communications center that is designed to monitor up
to 50 remote points which may include a combination of Digitrip OPTIM Trip
Units and IQ Energy Sentinels. Only the BIM II is connected directly to the
PXG200E instead of each individual remote point.
Other types of submasters allow the PXG200E to monitor devices that do
not have signal outputs that are compatible with COM1 or INCOM
communications protocols. For example, the IQ Multipoint Energy
Submeter II (IQMESII) is a compact multipoint meter that inputs signals from
current sensors (IQMESII meter points). The IQMESII submaster converts the
data from the current sensors to INCOM network data.
