Using an Ethernet LAN Connection
Use this procedure to connect the PXG200E Ethernet LAN port to an
Ethernet LAN port on your computer and login.
Requirements
To connect the PXG200E to an Ethernet LAN you must have:
•
A 32 or 64 bit, PC-compatible, computer
•
Either
of the following
•
CAT 5 STP*/UTP. *Based on the applications, STP may be necessary
for electromagnetic immunity requirements. A CAT 5 Ethernet LAN
cable is for connecting the PXG200E Ethernet LAN port to the
Ethernet LAN system, such as to a router or switch.
•
An Ethernet LAN Crossover cable. An Ethernet LAN Crossover cable
is for connecting the PXG200E Ethernet LAN port directly to the
Ethernet LAN port on your computer without connecting to the
network.
•
The PXG200E can be one of several devices connected to the
Ethernet LAN. Use one CAT 5 STP*/UTP. * cable to connect the
PXG200E to the next device, router or switch upstream from the
PXG200E. Use one CAT 5 STP*/UTP. * cable to connect the PXG200E
to the next device downstream from the PXG200E.
Procedure
1.
Review the requirements for configuring the Ethernet LAN in
Connecting to an Ethernet LAN on page 171
2.
Connect one end of an Ethernet LAN cable to the UPSTREAM Ethernet
LAN port of the PXG200E
(Figure 18, A)
and the other end to the next
UPSTREAM device or empty Ethernet LAN port on the network or on
your computer.
See “Connecting a PXG200E to the Ethernet
Figure 18
3.
If you are connecting to DOWNSTREAM devices on the Ethernet LAN,
connect one end of an Ethernet LAN cable to the DOWNSTREAM
Ethernet LAN port of the PXG200E
and the other end to
the UPSTREAM Ethernet LAN port on the next downstream device.
“Connecting a PXG200E to the Ethernet LAN” on page 14.
4.
After you connect both ends of the Ethernet LAN cable, wait at least two
minutes for the PXG200E to be properly recognized by your computer.
