You can set two passwords, PIN1 code and PIN2 code, for a UIM.
These passwords are set to “0000” at the time of contract; however, you can change them if desired.

The PIN1 code is a four- to eight-digit code that is used to verify the user every time the power of the
FOMA terminal is turned on ※ in order to prevent unauthorized use of the FOMA terminal by third
parties.

The power of FOMA terminal will be turned on when the “P2403 utility software” is started up.
For detailed instructions on the “P2403 utility software”, see page 116 (for PC) or see pages
100/106 (for PDA).
Entering the PIN1 code makes it possible to use the respective communication functions.
There are no functions in this FOMA terminal that require the PIN2 code.
● To prevent mischief, change the PIN1 code/PIN2 code as you like after the contract. Also,
keep a separate note of them just in case you forget them.
● Do not use the easy-to-decipher figures such as lower four digits of the phone number to
prevent it from being known by others.
● If you purchase a new FOMA terminal and use it with your present UIM, use the same PIN1
code and PIN2 code that you have set. If you have not changed PIN1 code and PIN2 code,
these codes remain “0000”.

startup)”, the power saving function of the PC or PDA may make it necessary to enter the
PIN code every time you use the UIM, even if the UIM has been left inserted depending on
the model of the PC or PDA.

communicate. To communicate, change the setting to “
起動時にPIN認証をしない
(Not verify PIN
code on startup)”, and exit the “P2403 utility software.” For setting the PIN code

PIN Unblock code
The “PIN unblock code” is used to unlock the “PIN1 code” which has been locked.
If an incorrect password is entered three times in succession on the display requiring entry of the
“PIN1 code”, the “PIN unblock code” entry display automatically appears. Enter the unblock code
here.
Entering the “PIN unblock code” will release the locked status.
If an incorrect “PIN unblock code” is entered 10 times in succession, you will be completely locked
out. Be sure to make a note of your “PIN unblock code” so that you do not forget it.
When you have released PIN Lock, either restart the “P2403 utility software”, or disconnect your
FOMA terminal from your PC or PDA and then reconnect it.
Note that if you forget your “PIN unblock code” or get locked out, you need to bring the FOMA
terminal, present UIM and an identification card such as a driver’s license to a handling counter such
as a DoCoMo shop.
