Normal/Direct Read Mode Selection
The F-2000 may be used in the Normal (NORM) or Direct (DIR) mode. The mode selected is determined by
the position of the switch next to the battery compartment door on the back of the thermometer.
NORM:
The F-2000 measures temperatures in approximately 30 to 35 seconds using a "predictive method".
DIR:
The F-2000 operates as a temperature monitor, taking about three to five minutes to come to
equilibrium and report patient temperature. An indicator LED will light in the upper left portion of
the temperature display to indicate that the direct mode is selected. In DIR mode, the F-2000 can
be used for long-term temperature monitoring.

Battery Care, Installation and Removal
Continuous operating time using battery power is approximately from 4 to 6 hours when the interval time is set to
5 minutes, the adult/pediatric cuff is used, and the printer is on.
Before the battery is completely discharged, the following two visual warnings will occur:
“CHARGE BATTERY” is displayed on the LCD screen.
Battery mark on the front panel begins to flash in red.
Also, when battery charge is low, the printer function will cease (to conserve energy).
If the monitor's operation is continued on battery power, the following message will appear -- "Battery Is Empty
Connect A/C Plug and Power On Again" -- and the unit will shut off all power. The A/C plug will need to be
attached to the unit and connected to an A/C wall outlet. To turn the unit back on, the user must press the "OFF"
switch to reset the microprocessor, then press the "ON" switch. The monitor is then ready to be used.
The battery is charging any time the A/C power cord is connected to a functional A/C power source. It takes
approximately 24 hours to fully charge the battery. (The “ON/OFF” switch on the front panel does not affect
the battery charge.)
To replace the batteries, remove the six 4 x 1/2
screws securing the inner support to the base unit of
the F-2000. Lift the inner support out of the base
unit exposing the F-2000.
Remove the F-2000 from the base unit, then pull
open compartment door. Swing the battery
compartment door down from the top of the case.
Replace the batteries with two AA cell batteries,
observing the polarity on the battery compartment
door. Close the battery compartment door. For
maximum run-time, use only alkaline batteries.
