POLYCARBONATE SIDE PANEL INSTALLATION
The instructions below describe how to install the
polycarbonate side panels of the greenhouse.
Like the roof panels, the upper side panel overlaps the top
of the lower side panel.
In the diagrams that follow, end
panels have been removed for clarity.
INSTALL POLYCARBONATE SIDE PANELS
The instructions below describe how to install the
polycarbonate side panels along one side of the
greenhouse.
The procedures to install the side panels for each side of
the greenhouse include the following:
1. Prepare the polycarbonate panels for the side and
attach these to the installed hat channel.
2. Install the roof-to-side panel flashing.
Consult the following information before you begin to install
the polycarbonate panels for the side.
• Side Panel Section (one side): Use one (1) 6' x 8' panel
for the lower panel and one (1) 6' x 6' panel cut from
one 6' x 12' polycarbonate panel for the upper section.
Secure panels to hat channel using Tek screws.
• Tape both ends of all lower side panels using vent tape.
Tape only the top end of all upper side panels using the
vent tape.
• Install the UV-protected side out and toward the sun.
• Do not allow the polycarbonate panels to remain
exposed to the sun with the protective film intact.
Doing so will make the film difficult if not impossible to
remove. Remove film prior to panel installation.
• Panels are secured to the hat channel using FA4484
Tek screws and neo-bonded washers (102921).
• Like the upper roof panel, end cap (104548) is used
to finish the lower edge of the upper side panel.
H-channel is used to join separate panels along the
side.
INSTALL POLYCARBONATE SIDE PANELS
Install panel cells vertically to allow condensation to
properly drain from the cells. Required panels include:
For each
lower side panel
use a full 6' x 8' sheet of
polycarbonate. For each
upper side panel
cut a full 6' x 12'
panel in half to create two 6' x 6' panels. Use one 6' x 6'
panel to finish one section of the sidewall.
Complete these steps to prepare and install the
polycarbonate side panels:
1. Remove the protective film from a 6' x 8' panel, mark
the UV-protected side (if needed) using a marker or
small piece of tape, tape the open cells at the top and
bottom using the vent tape, and install a section of
H-channel along the inside edge of the panel.
2. With the UV-protected side of the panel to the outside,
secure the
lower panel
to each run of hat channel using
the same procedures used in the roof panel installation.
(Refer to roof panel installation steps if needed.)
ATTENTION:
To avoid conflicts with the installation
of flashing, do not install Tek screws along outer
edge of the end side panels. To avoid conflicts with
the installation of the upper panels, do not install Tek
screws along the upper edge of the lower side panels
until the upper panel is installed. See dashed lines.
