Problem

Possible Causes & Solutions

Reagent label printer, slide label printer
or report printers are not working�

Cause: Printers are not connected to correct port.
Resolution: Check the printer ports to make sure the each printer connection is properly
connected to the correct port.

Cause: Printers are not communicating with instrument.
Resolution: Re-start your instrument and computer by following directions on how to
Safely Turn Instrument On/Off found and Printer Port Connection section in this chapter.
If problems still persist, contact Technical Support for further assistance.

Power outage�

Cause: Power outages may cause the instrument to unexpectedly shut down. If the
instrument is not properly shut down system failure can occur.
Resolution: Re-start your instrument by following directions on how to Safely Turn
Instrument On/Off found in this chapter. If problems still persist, contact Technical
Support for further assistance.

Operating Errors

Problem

Possible Causes & Solutions

Carboy Details window shows required
volume from the previous run after a
run is complete�

Cause: If a user hovers over the carboys from the Home Screen, the required volume from
the previous run will be displayed. Required volume is not reset once a run is complete.
Resolution: This does not affect a future run. Once the user starts a new run, carboy
details show required volume correctly.

The VALENT is in demo mode�

Cause: The instrument and software are not connected.
Resolution: Be sure to turn on the instrument before logging into the VALENT Software.

The software will not allow you to map a
slide to a particular slide tray�

Cause: There are run requirements that limit what protocol can be processed in the
same slide tray. Please see Chapter 5 of the Slide Tray section for more information.
Resolution: Move the slide that has a different set of AR or DePar conditions and add to
another slide tray.
