Chapter 8: Troubleshooting
Occasionally, you may encounter problems while obtaining staining results or performing associated procedures. This chapter describes
the most commonly reported issues, and identifies the possible causes and solutions. If a problem persists, contact Technical Support
immediately at 1-800-799-9499 Option 3. Provide details, such as the number of occurrences and associated conditions, and the
condition and appearance of the slides.
Printer Port Connections
If slide or reagent labels are not printing, check for the following:
• Power cables are plugged into the printers and VALENT Cart
• USB cables are plugged into the printers and VALENT Cart
• Printers are switched on
If printers are connected properly and powered on, and still no labels are print, log into the VALENT software and go to Tools-> Label
Designers-> Slide Label Designer.
• Select the drop-down menu next to Slide Printer.
• Choose one of the options in the list.
• Select Test Print. Repeat the last 2 steps until a slide label successfully prints.
• Select the Save & Close button.
• Repeat the same steps for the Reagent Label Designer.
Important Note: There should only be TSC TC310 and TSC TC310 (Copy 1), but if the printers lose connection to a port, the computer
might create a new port pathway� Therefore, there may be TSC TC310 (Copy 2), TSC TC310 (Copy 3), and so on in the drop down menu)�
Changing Printer Labels and Ribbons
The reagent and slide label printers, TSC TC310 Thermal Transfer Printers, are manufactured by TSC. Please refer to TSC’s website for
instructions on how to change printer labels and ribbons at www.tscprinters.com.
