Procedure for trough cleaning to remove hematoxylin residue after DAB away cleaning:

• Remove all slide trays.
• Fill all four troughs with 250mL of Val Clean using a measuring cup.
• Fill all four troughs with 250mL of DI water using a measuring cup.
• Wait for 5 minutes.
• Drain all four troughs to hazardous waste. This function is found under Tools-> Instrument Operations-> Drain Waste & Prime

Buffers.

• Fill 500mL of DI water in all four troughs. Pour half the volume (250mL) slowly on the entire length of trough slope under the

trough dispense manifold and remaining volume (250mL) over the trough level sensor.

• Wait for 5 minutes.
• Drain all four troughs to non-hazardous waste.
• Wipe under the trough dispense manifold using 70% Isopropyl alcohol lint free wipe to get rid of any hematoxylin residue.

Monthly

Disinfect carboys and internal supply lines using Lysol® I.C. Quaternary Disinfectant Cleaner, follow dilution directions specified on
Lysol bottle.

• Empty AR Hi pH, AR Lo pH, Wash Buffer, Aqua Rinse and waste carboys and then fill with at least 2L of diluted Lysol® I.C.

Quaternary Disinfectant Cleaner.

• Shake the carboys so the walls of the carboys are well sanitized.
• Log in to the VALENT Software.
• From the Home Screen go to Tools-> Instrument Operations-> Drain Waste & Prime Buffers.
• Select Prime than Probe.
• Set Prime Duration to 10 sec and select Prime Solution. Repeat 3 times (for a total of 30 seconds).

• Select Prime than Buffers. Make sure both Aqua Rinse and Buffer check boxes are selected.
• Keep Prime Duration at 8 sec and select Prime Solution.
