– Carefully press the selector lever cable ball socket -1- in this
position onto the selector shaft lever.
Note
Do not bend selector shaft lever when pressing on, otherwise shift
mechanism can no longer be adjusted exactly.
– Secure the selector lever cable using a clip -2-.
Note
Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
– Install the heat shield. Refer to ⇒ Body Exterior; Rep. Gr. 66 ;
Molding/Trim/Extensions/Trim Panels; Overview - Heat
Shield .
– Check and adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to
⇒ “1.11 Selector Lever Cable, Checking and Adjusting”, page
47 .
– Check the selector mechanism. Refer to
⇒ “1.4 Gearshift Mechanism, Checking”, page 21 .

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Trim Removal Wedge - 3409-
♦ Socket And Key - T40031-
Procedure
• Tightening specification. Refer to
⇒ “1.3 Overview - Selector Lever Cable”, page 20 .
– Press the button on the electro-mechanical parking brake to
activate it.
– Move the selector lever into “D” or “D/S”.
– Carefully pry out the selector lever boot on the side using the
-3409- or a small screwdriver -arrows- and then fold it upward.
