– Remove the ball socket -1- on the selector lever cable from
the selector shaft lever using the -80-200- .
– Press the securing clips -2- off and remove the selector lever
cable from the transmission.
Note
Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
– Remove the selector mechanism function unit.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Tightening specifications:

Replace the lock washers.

Lightly lubricate the ball socket on the selector lever cable with
Polycarbamide Grease - G 052 142 A2- before installing.

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
– Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to

– Install the heat shield. Refer to ⇒ Body Exterior; Rep. Gr. 66 ;

– Install tunnel crossmember. Refer to

– Check the selector mechanism. Refer to
⇒ “1.4 Gearshift Mechanism, Checking”, page 21 .
– Align the exhaust system free of tension. Refer to ⇒ Rep. Gr.
