REQUIREMENTS
Standard EN60034‐2‐1:2014 clause 5.5.2 requires that direct measurements of motor electrical power to that standard have 0.2% or
better accuracy.
The XT2640 is capable of performing such measurements over a wide range of voltages and currents, either with bandwidth limiting
or not.
Generally you should configure the XT2640 for measurements which are suitable for the motor being tested; the following MEAS
CONFIG settings are recommended‐
LF/PERIOD setting of 10Hz/0.3s or 20Hz/0.1s
FUND setting of MAINS (for a drive frequency in the range 45 to 65Hz and a non‐PWM driven motor) or VOLTAGE (for a non‐
PWM driven motor drive frequency within the range from the LF/PERIOD setting up to a limit defined by you) or CURRENT
(for a PWM driven motor drive frequency within the range from the LF/PERIOD setting up to a limit defined by you).
The highest frequency setting when using the VOLTAGE or CURRENT settings should be just slightly above the maximum
expected motor drive or modulation frequency.
BANDWIDTH should be set for AUTO‐TRACK or UNFILTERED as desired, however the recommendations for PWM driven
motors contained in section 16 should be followed for those situations.
HARMONICS is generally not needed, so setting this to 0 or 1 is recommended.
The other MEAS CONFIG settings are not important for best performance so may be set according to the recommendations of
section 12.4.
To achieve the necessary accuracy the use of the A type channels, with the H current option is recommended for a wide range of
voltages and currents. However a smaller range of voltages and currents may be achieved with other channel types and/or current
options. The charts shown below show the allowable range of voltages and currents which can be measured with an AH channel to
within the requirements of EN60034‐2‐1, both with and without bandwidth restriction employed.
Note that the allowable range is continuous, there are no areas contained within it which are not applicable, and these charts assume
a 2 year recalibration interval for the XT2640. These charts have been generated using the accuracy specifications contained in
section 27. For charts for other channel types or current options, or in different conditions, please contact XiTRON.
