Scan receipts and other financial documents for tax purposes
With the eXtended Image File (XIF) format, you have the
option of scanning multiple hard copy documents into one or
many XIF files, as you see fit. One idea is to scan and organize all
of your tax documents into XIF files.
For example, if you needed to save all of your 1998 expense
receipts for tax purposes, you could scan them all into one XIF
document, or organize them into separate XIF documents by
month, or by business trip.
You could even use the Pagis Editor to make annotations in the
documents to further describe their significance.
Then, when you are ready to prepare your taxes (or have them
prepared by an outside service), you can very quickly print copies
of all of your supporting documents. You can print the documents
with or without any annotations you might have made.
For more information about these applications, refer to:

“Scanning documents” (Chapter 4)

“Refining and annotating an image” (Chapter 3)

Editor” section in Chapter 4)
Scan a picture, add keywords, and add it to a search database
It is very useful to add keywords to scanned photographs so you
can later search for them without having to remember where you
saved them. For example, you might add keywords such as
“vacation,” “birthday,” “anniversary” and so on.
