TEST
1. Mount fan blade (PN 03-917946-01) on test fixture with set screws at 12 o’clock on shaft flat and 3 o’clock on shaft diameter.
Use the grooved end of tool PN 03-917887-00 to set the back spacing of the fan and to counter the torque of the hex wrench.
Close safety door.
2. Set the meter to AC volts and turn on the power and fan switch.
3. The meter should read less than
4.5 volts
. Reject any fans that read more that 4.5 volts. Divide the volts by 100 to get oz-in of
unbalance. For example: 5 volts = .05 oz-in of unbalance.
4. If the reading is greater than 4.5 volts, check the motor speed by pressing the
Hz
button on the meter and read the frequency.
The frequency should be 26.9 to 27.3 Hz (If the signal is less than 2 volts, it may not be stable enough to get a frequency
reading). Switch back to voltage measurement by pressing the Hz button twice.
5. At the end of the shift, turn the power off to the voltmeter.
6. All discrepant fans must have voltage, fan number, and Hz written on one of the fan blades with a marker. Re-box fan in original
container.
7. Circle the fan number on the Vendor Data Sheet.
8. Copy the Data Sheet. Send the original back to the vendor with DR file copy in Fan Data Binder.
