has been exhausted, continue to test and add repeater locations as described until a good survey result
is achieved for all the devices in the installation.
8.2 Existing Installation Survey
To check the signal of an existing device in an installation, momentarily place a magnet in the
appropriate survey location of the device. Refer to the device manual for the survey location of each
type of transmitter. One beep should be heard at the device and the repeater which received the survey
signal followed by either a single beep or two beeps at the device only. A single beep indicates an
unacceptable survey and two beeps indicate an acceptable survey. If an unacceptable survey is the
result, the device will have to be relocated or a repeater added to receive it at this location. To test
repeater to repeater communications, press the survey button located on the repeater circuit board for
1 second then release. Refer to figure 4 for the survey button location. The beeps that indicate the
survey start and result are the same as a device. The repeater which received the survey signal will
beep once. This is to notify the installer which repeater is responding to the device survey signal.
