4.2.6  Reseting the Switch

Follow these steps to reset the switch:

Step 1

enable

Enter privileged mode.

Step 2

reset [ except-ip ]

Reset the switch, and all configurations of the switch will be reset to the factory defaults.

except-ip

: To maintain the IP address when resetting the switch, add this part to the command

Follow these steps to disable the reset function of console port or reset button:

Step 1

configure

Enter global configuration mode.

Step 2

service reset-disable

Disable the reset function of console port or reset button. By default, the reset function is 

enabled.

Note: use the 

no service reset-disable

 command to enable the reset function of console port.
