CAUTION: Unplug the vacuum cleaner before servicing
1. Determine where the noise originates from. Turn on the vacuum and then press the Carpet/Floor but
ton to disengage the direct air motor and agitator. If the noise is still present with the direct air motor
turned off then it is in the clean air motor. Inspect the motor for damage and replace as necessary. See
page 52 for instructions on how access the clean air motor.
2. If the noise only occurs with the direct air motor running then check to see if the noise is originating f
rom the agitator or the direct air motor. Remove the agitator from the vacuum and bypass the hall
sensor using a bypass plug as shown on pages 15-16. If the noise is no longer present then the issue is
with the agitator. Check agitator bearings and replace if necessary (See pages 15-16 for instuctions.)
If bearings are good then the agitator is out of balance and should be replaced.
3. If the noise is still present when the brushroll is removed then there is a problem with the direct air
motor. Remove the clean out door to check for a foreign object or damaged fan See instructions on
page 40. Remove foreign object or replace fan as necessary. See page 40.
4. If noise or vibration persists the direct air motor is damaged. Replace the motor. (See page 51 for
instructions on replacing the motor.)
