b. Gently wiggle the tool in both directions to release the heat sink from the CPU.

Caution –
Do not attempt to remove the heat sink with one motion of the tool. This
might break the CPU socket.
9. Once the heat sink is free, set it upside down on the work surface.
Note –
Do not touch or contaminate the exposed thermal interface material on the
heat sink or the top of the exposed CPU.
10. Using a No. 1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws securing the fans to the heat
sink and remove the fans.
