Headlight indicator
light
This indicator light illuminates under the
following conditions.
.
When the light switch is in the
“
”
or
“ ”
position (except Australia models)

When the light switch is in the

position (Australia models)

When the light switch is in the
“
AUTO
”
position and the headlights illuminate
automatically (models with auto on/off
headlights)
&
Front fog light indicator
light
This indicator light illuminates while the
front fog lights are illuminated.
&
Rear fog light indicator
light (if equipped)
This indicator light illuminates while the
rear fog light is illuminated.
&
X-mode indicator (if
equipped)
This indicator appears while the X-mode is
activated. It will disappear when the X-
mode is deactivated.
&
Hill descent control
indicator (if equipped)
This indicator appears while the hill
descent control function is in standby. It
will flash while the hill descent control
function is operating. It will disappear
when the hill descent control function is
not available.
&
Preheating indicator
light (diesel engine
models)
The preheating indicator light illuminates
when the ignition switch is turned to the
“
ON
”
position and turns off after the
engine has sufficiently preheated (a few
seconds later).
NOTE
.
When the weather is cold outside,
the preheating indicator light remains
illuminated a little longer than usual.

For models without push-button
start system, start the engine after the
preheating indicator light has turned
off.
.
For models with push-button start
system, the engine will not start until
the preheating indicator light has
turned off.

Diesel particulate filter
warning indicator
(diesel engine models)

When diesel particulate filter warn-
ing indicator appears
The diesel particulate filter warning indi-
cator appears when the filter is not able to
automatically burn the soot and the
accumulated particulate matter exceeds
the specified limit.
When the diesel particulate filter warning
indicator appears, drive the vehicle under
the following conditions after the engine
has been warmed up completely.

Engine speed (MT models only): 1,800
to 2,500 rpm
.
Vehicle speed: 60 km/h (37 mph) or
faster is preferred.
.
Driving time for burn treatment: 15
minutes or more
NOTE
.
Do not accelerate rapidly.
.
For MT models with the gear shift
indicator, accelerate the vehicle ac-
cording to the upshift timing shown in
the gear shift indicator. During regen-
eration of the diesel particulate filter,
the gear shift indicator will prompt the
driver to accelerate to the engine speed
