However, if the extension has Auto Hold
enabled, the system will put the current call on
hold before connecting the new call.
• A feature key programmed with Call Wait
Allow will be solid red when the feature is
enabled.
2.11 Camp On Busy Line
# (ON) FUNCTION *93 (OFF)
Camp On Busy Line allows a user exclusive access to
a line once a busy line becomes idle. The user presses
a feature key or dials a function code to send notifica-
tion to the system that access is needed. As soon as
that line becomes idle, Protegé® 616 will ring the
extension that camped on for 30 seconds. Within this
30-second period, only the camped on extension is
allowed to access it.
But if the camped on extension does not answer
after 30 seconds, the line is returned to idle.
N
OTES
• If an incoming call rings in on the line that has
the camp on, the camp on will be canceled and
the extension user will receive the incoming
call.
2.12 Camp On Busy Station
2
Camp On Busy Station allows a user to wait for a
busy extension until it becomes idle. The user presses
a feature key or dials a function code to send camp
on notification to the busy extension and remain off-
hook waiting for the extension to return to idle.
As soon as that extension becomes idle, the
camped on extension automatically will ring to that
extension.
N
OTES
• Only one extension can camp on another at
one time.
• If background music is programmed, the call-
ing party will hear the background music.
• The called party will be alerted by a tone from
the handset every 30 seconds.
• Camp On does not operate on extensions with
Call Waiting enabled.
2.13 Conference
XFR/CONF OR FUNCTION 60
The conference feature allows a keyset user, known
as the controller, to connect up to three additional
parties into a single conversation. A single line tele-
phone cannot establish a conference, nor be a confer-
ence controller. The conferenced parties can include
any combination of extensions and CO lines. Protegé
616 system supports four-party conferences with a
total of up to eight (8) simultaneous conferences. The
conference controller has the option to force individ-
ual parties out of the conference, to add individual
parties when others drop out, or have a private con-
versation while putting the other parties on hold.
One button access to the conference feature is avail-
able. Follow instructions on how to program a fea-
ture key in any user guide. The feature code is
Function key, dial 60.
N
OTES
• If the controlling party drops out, there must
be an internal party to assume control of the
conference.
• Calls that are part of the conference are placed
on Exclusive Hold.
• All parties will hear a tone when entering the
conference.
2.14 Dial Access to Features
System features can be accessed two ways. One is by
dialing the access code preceded by the Function key.
The other is to pre-program feature keys with the
function codes for one button operation.
2.15 Dial Pulse to DTMF Conversion
*
Digital keysets can switch from pulse to DTMF dial-
ing mode. This feature enables the keyset to place a
call over a pulse line and then switch to DTMF to use
automated features on the called system. Press the
asterisk (*) key prior to dialing the actual DTMF tone
digits.
2.16 Direct Station Selection (DSS)
FUNCTION #3
Keyset feature keys can be programmed as DSS keys.
A DSS key can connect with a specific extension or
voice mail group. After programming the feature
keys, press a key to make an ICM call directly to its
corresponding extension instead of dialing the exten-
sion number. Generally, pressing a DSS key is per-
mitted in the set up and execution of features just as
if the user dialed an extension number from the dial
pad.
2.17 Distinctive Ringing (Station)
FUNCTION #7
Distinctive ring tones can be selected allowing adja-
cent keyset users to discern which keyset is ringing
without actually looking at the keysets. Four ring
tones can be used. The ring tone selected is heard for
CO calls, intercom calls, and as a confirmation tone.
2.18 DND (Do Not Disturb)
FUNCTION 4 (TOGGLE)
Extension users can enable DND to stop incoming
CO and intercom calls from ringing at their phone.
