1.10 Class Of Service
DATABASE PROGRAMMING - 1. EXTENSION - DAY/NIGHT
CLASS OF SERVICE
All extensions are assigned a Class of Service (COS)
to determine what features are available to each
extension user. There are eight different COS, which
are numbered from 0 to 7.
Station COS is associated with toll restriction for
both day and night times, Barge In and DND over-
ride.
1.11 Database Programming
In database programming mode, there are six pro-
gramming categories. These categories are Exten-
sion, Trunkline, Call Handling, Resource, Restriction
and Control.
Database programming is done from a display
keyset. Menu options are displayed on the LCD for
each of these six categories. There are three dedicated
soft buttons to help with the programming. Different
messages/prompts are displayed for each program-
ming item to guide the administrator. Note, any
extension user may enter database programming if
the extension has a display keyset and knows the
system password. The default system password is six
digits '000000' and can be changed through system
programming.
1.12 Dialing Type Selection
DATABASE PROGRAMMING - 2. TRUNKLINE - SHOW LINE - TYPE
Outside lines can be programmed to send either
DTMF or Pulse mode to meet the requirements of the
routing carriers.
N
OTES
• Signaling time has to be programmed when
DTMF dialing is selected. There are three pro-
grammable signal times: 70ms, 90ms or 120ms.
• When pulse dialing is selected the system con-
forms to a make/break ratio specification of
40/60 and sends 8 to 11 pulses per second on
the line during dialing.
1.13 Dial Intercom Non-blocking
DATABASE PROGRAMMING - NONE
Intercom calls are not restricted because of the
switching links provided by the system.
N
OTES
• Any incoming intercom call can reach any sta-
tion when the extension is on-hook.
1.14 Discriminating Ringing
DATABASE PROGRAMMING - NONE
Incoming line ring (camp-on line recall ring) and
intercom ring (ICM recall ring) can be distinguished
by their different ring time intervals (i.e. ring
cadence).
1.15 External Music Source
DATABASE PROGRAMMING - NONE
Protegé® 616 provides one mono interface for those
companies that require music on hold or background
music. Music can be obtained from a variety of
sources including radios, CD and tape players and
other audio devices. The Sprint Products Group, Inc.
MOH 5.0 (material code 994050) can be connected to
the 616 and allows approximately 5 minutes of mes-
sages and music to be recorded. Call your Sprint
North Supply representative to order.
1.16 External Page
DATABASE PROGRAMMING - NONE
FUNCTION 50x
Protegé® 616 provides one interface for those com-
panies that require the ability to perform external
paging. The system must be connected to an ampli-
fier in order for pages to be broadcast over the exter-
nal paging equipment rather than the speaker that
comes with the keyset.
1.17 Flexible Line Assignment
DATABASE PROGRAMMING - 1. EXTENSION - LINE ASSIGN-
MENT
A line or group may be assigned to an extension for
the purpose of making outgoing calls only. This
assignment is not a Private line. The attendant
answers all incoming calls on the line or group.
1.18 Flexible Receive Assignment
DATABASE PROGRAMMING - 1. EXTENSION - RECEIVE ASSIGN-
MENT
Each line can be assigned to allow a specific exten-
sion or extensions to answer an incoming call even if
the line is not programmed to ring the extension(s).
This assignment does not override any extension
restrictions placed on outgoing calls on lines that
have this programming.
