Address assignments can be either Static or Automatic (if DHCP
is in use). The above illustration shows a Static configuration.

In the Network Setup illustrations, Static IP
addressing has been selected.
Set Static Network IP address
A static (or predetermined) IP address can be assigned to
the SMS Server’s Theater Network connection. To set the
Static IP address option, tap
STATIC
in the IP ADDRESS
ASSIGNMENT group and enter the values for IP Address,
Subnet Mask and Gateway.
• IP Address
To set a static IP address, tap
IP Address
and the
Enter Address popup appears.
To set a new IP address, tap
CLEAR
, set the new IP
address by tapping the numbers on the
Keypad
, and
then tap
Accept
.
Note:
Entering the IP addresses from the ENTER
ADDRESS popup uses the “dotted decimal” format
and must include the “dot(s)” as part of the entry.
• Subnet Mask
To set a static Subnet Mask, tap
Subnet Mask
and
the ENTER ADDRESS popup appears. Tap
CLEAR
, set the new IP address by tapping the
numbers on the
Keypad
, and then tap
Accept
.
• Gateway
To set a static Gateway, tap
Gateway
and the
ENTER ADDRESS popup appears. Tap
CLEAR
,
set the new IP address by tapping the numbers on the
Keypad
, and then tap
Accept
.
Automatic Network IP address
To set the Automatic IP address option, tap
AUTOMATIC
in
the IP ADDRESS ASSIGNMENT group and then tap
Save
Settings
. The appropriate value for IP Address, Subnet Mask
and Gateway are assigned by the DHCP server.
DNS Address Assignment
The DNS ADDRESS ASSIGNMENT group includes
settings for the Primary and Secondary Domain Name
System (DNS) Servers supporting the Theater Network

1.The Domain Name System (DNS) associates IP address-
es with so-called domain names. Essentially, it serves as a
phone book by translating human readable computer host-
names, e.g. www.yahoo.com, into the IP addresses net-
working equipment uses to deliver information. DNS is an
essential component of contemporary Internet use.
