13 Engine Removal & Installation

Kohler - Engine Installation
1. Connect a suitable lifting device to the lift rings on the
engine, and raise the engine. Move the engine above
the front of the tractor, and slowly lower into the
frame. As the engine is lowered, ensure that the drive
shaft front flange is positioned for proper reassembly,
and that the oil drain valve (B, Figure 13) goes
through the hole in the bottom of the frame pan (C).
2. Install and tighten the hardware (A) securing the
engine to the frame.
3. Position the drive shaft front flange (B, Figure 15) on the
engine (C), and secure with the original hardware (A).
4. If the drive shaft was removed and reinstalled,
replace the lower shield (D, Figure 14) from the bot-
tom of the tractor, and secure with the original hard-
ware (C).
5. Install the upper drive shaft guard (B), and secure
with hardware (A).
6. Install the PTO clutch assembly (C, Figure 16), fan
(B), and PTO belt set to the engine (refer to Section
16, PTO CLUTCH SERVICE, if additional information
is required).
NOTE: The PTO belts are a matched set and must be
replaced as a set. If the belts are being removed for
inspection, make sure they are reinstalled in the their
original pulley groove and rotational orientation.
