13 Engine Removal & Installation

NOTE: The PTO belts are a matched set and must be
replaced as a set. If the belts are being removed for
inspection, make sure they are reinstalled in the their
original pulley groove and rotational orientation.
10. Remove the PTO belt set (A, Figure 9), fan (B), and
PTO clutch assembly (C) from the engine (Refer to
Section 16, "PTO Clutch Service" if additional infor-
mation is required).
11. Remove the hardware (A, Figure 10 ) securing the
drive shaft guard (B) above the drive shaft, and
remove the guard.
12. Remove the hardware (A, Figure 11 ) securing the
drive shaft front flange (B) to the engine (C).
13. If it will be necessary to remove the drive shaft from
the tractor, remove the hardware (C, Figure 10)
securing the lower shield (D) to the frame, and
remove the shield from below the frame.
14. Remove the hardware (A, Figure 12) securing the
engine to the frame.
15. Connect a suitable lifting device to the lift rings on the
engine, and raise the engine slowly from the frame,
until the drive shaft front flange (rear of engine) is
cleared and oil drain valve (B) on the engine bottom
is free of the frame pan hole (C). Move the engine to
a suitable work area.
NOTE: Use care when lowering the engine to a work sur-
face, to prevent damaging the oil drain valve on the bot-
tom of the engine (B).
