Hydraulic Steering Unit Removal
1. Park the tractor on a level surface.
2. Place blocks in front of and behind the front wheels.
3. Turn the ignition key switch to the OFF position,
remove the key, set the parking brake, and turn the
PTO switch off.
4. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable (see
Section 7, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SERVICE).
5. Lower any attachments to relieve hydraulic pressure.
6. Remove the steering tilt assembly (see Tilt Assembly
Removal).
7. Remove the dash panel (see Section 14, HOOD,
DASH, & FOOT REST SERVICE).
NOTE: Tag the hydraulic hoses, tubes, and fittings for
proper reassembly.
8. Disconnect and remove the hydraulic fittings and
hoses (A, Figure 10) from the steering unit (C).
9. Disconnect and remove the hydraulic fittings and
tube assemblies (B) from the steering unit (C).
10. Remove the four capscrews (B, Figure 9) and four
lockwashers retaining steering unit (A) to control
tower (C).
11. Guide steering unit out of the control tower.

Hydraulic Steering Unit Installation
1. Guide steering unit into the control tower.
2. Install the four capscrews and four lockwashers
(B, Figure 9) that retain the steering unit (A) to control
tower (C).
3. Reconnect the hydraulic fittings and tube assemblies
(B, Figure 10) to the steering unit (E).
4. Reconnect the hydraulic fittings and hoses
(A, Figure 10) to the steering unit (C).
NOTE: Low pressure return line must be secured with a
hose clamp (D).
5. Install the dash panel (see Section 14, HOOD,
DASH, & FOOT REST SERVICE).
6. Install the steering tilt assembly.
7. Reconnect spark plug wires.
8. Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable
(see Section 7, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SERVICE).
9. Start engine and check for leaks.
10. Turn wheels from lock to lock several times.
11. Shut off engine and check for proper fluid level. Fill to
proper level.
