11 Transaxle Removal & Installation

Transaxle Installation – All Models
1. Position the transaxle on a floor jack, and push it into
position under the rear of the tractor.
2. Clean the common mounting surfaces on the
Hydrostatic Unit and transaxle case (Figure 10),
removing all traces of old gasket material. Remove
any gasket material found in each of two cavities on
the transfer case.
3. Install the Hydrostatic Unit onto the transaxle, and
secure with four capscrews (A, Figure 8), lockwash-
ers (B), and spacers (C).
4. With an assistant, position the transaxle as required
to couple the drive shaft (D) with the Hydrostatic Unit
input shaft.
5. Push the transaxle into its final position and secure
with two capscrews into each frame bracket.
6. Replace capscrew (A, Figure 9) securing the front of
the transaxle assembly to the frame crossmember (B).
7. Replace both rear wheel and tire assemblies and
remove the floor jack.
