7.2 Self-Test

The  PCW  Software  “Self-Test”  menu  provides  routines  for  system  self-test,  Lo
Current  Deck  self-test  and  calibration.    System  self-test  should  be  run  on  every
power-up sequence or every day if system is left powered on.  This routine confirms
proper operation of the 5000 Series Tester.

7.2.1 Run Sys Test

System self-test exercises the high and low power sources through all ranges, modes
gains and polarities, monitor dividers and loads on the relay board and analog board
IN and OUT buses.



Attach system self-test fixture to front panel jacks.



Make sure the Interlock is jumpered (using hand or foot switch).



Select “Runtime” – “Self-Test” – “System Test” menu and click the “Start”
button.



The “Display” box will show “CHECK-OUT GOOD” if the system is functional.
If an error occurs, the error code is displayed and the individual block can be
run. Refer to the troubleshooting section (7.3) for additional information if an
error occurs.



It is recommended that the self-test routine be run for an extended period (5

minutes to overnight) to check for intermittent operation of relays.   Click the
“Repeat/Single”  button  on  “STI  Front  Panel”  window  to  toggle  from  single
mode  to  repetitive  mode  and  then  click  the  “Start”  button  on  the  “System
Self-

Test” to begin running the self-test routine in repetitive mode. The

system cannot be damaged by running self-test for extended periods of time.

7.2.2 Auto Calibration

The  Auto  Calibrate  routine  measures  and  stores  offsets  in  the  5000  Series  Tester
and  eliminates the need for manual calibration unless one or more of power source
boards  or  relay  board  becomes  damaged  or  any  of  the  Auto  Calibrate  factors
becomes larger than an absolute value of 350.



Ensure the 5000 Series tester passes system self-test (section 7.2.1) and

that the system has been powered on for at least 15 minutes.



Insert a standard Scientific Test fixture (without a device installed) on the

front panel jacks.
