 MODEL 5000 SERIES MANUAL 

 

Click “Options” selection 

 

Click “File Type” tab 

 

Click “New Type” 

 

Enter “STI Test Programs” in Description field 

 

Enter “.T60” in Associate Extension field 

 

Click “New” button 

 

Enter “open” in Action field 

  Use Browse to select the STI PCW program in Application field 

 

Click “Ok” button 

Select  the 

Systems 

–  STI  File  Paths

 

menu  to  select  "STI  Configuration"  and  then 

"Save"  to  save  configuration  changes.    Note:  save  the  appropriate  configuration  in 
each  directory  with  STI  Test  Programs  in  order  to  double  click  on  the  desired  STI 
Test  Program  and  launch  the  STI  PCW  program  and  automatically  download  the 
selected STI Test Program to the STI Series 5000 Tester. 
 
Turn on the STI 5000 Series Tester and, if possible, allow it to warm up (approx. 15 
minutes). 
There  are  two  speed  buttons  at  the  bottom  of  the  main  window.    The  first  starts  a 
Go/No-Go  test  sequence  (there  must  be  a  STI  Test  Program  loaded).    The  second 
sets the STI 5000 Series Tester to the top menu (same as pressing the “EXIT” key on 
the front panel of the STI 5000 Series Tester. 
 

NOTES: 

  Please report any bugs or problems with this software.  If possible include a 

brief description of the problem and actions taken just prior to the problem. 

  The  Communications  Baud  rate  of  9600  is  specifically  for  STI  5000  Series 

Testers  with  a  V53  SBC.    The  newer  A486  SBC  will  work  reliably  at  Baud 
Rates up to 115K  (if using a long cable between the STI 5000 Series Tester 
and  the  PC,  it  is  recommended  to  use  the  38.4K  Baud  Rate).    Note:  the 
default  baud  rate  is  38.4K,  to change  this  setting,  both  the  STI  5000  Series 
Tester and STI PCW program must be changed. 

6.3 The PCW Main Menu 

 

6.3.1 Runtime 

 

6.3.1.1  Multiplex Option 

 
Toggles  multiplex  operation  on  and  off.    Multiplex  operation  requires  Multiplex 
Adapter MUX-3S or MUX-4S and multiplex firmware in the STI 5000 Series Tester. 

6.3.1.2    Send 

Sends  a  selected  STI  Test  Program  to  the  STI  5000  Series  Tester  and  opens  an 
Operator Infor

mation window if the operator information file (“.OIF”) exists. 

6.3.1.3    Self Test
