8.4.2 5000 Series Tester Self-Test
Cable Connected Case:
To test the 5000 Series Tester, remove the Low Current Deck device cable from the
front panel of the 5000 Series Tester (it is not necessary to remove the Low Current
Deck control cable) and attach the 5000 Series Tester Self-Test Fixture as described
in Section 2.1.4. Set the “Remote Deck” switch (on the Low Current Deck panel) to
OFF and run the 5000 Series Tester self-test as described in Section 2.1.4.
Plug-In Case:
Run the Mainframe Self-Test with the Mainframe Self-Test fixture installed into the
Low Current Deck. If an error occurs, remove the Low Current Deck from the
mainframe, install the Mainframe Self-Test fixture into the mainframe and re-run the
mainframe self-test. If the error remains, then troubleshoot the mainframe as
described in Section 7. If the error clears then troubleshoot the Low Current Deck as
described below.
8.4.3 Lo Current Deck Self-Test
Cable Connected Case:
Reconnect the Low Current Deck device cable to the front panel of the 5000 Series
Tester. Set the “Remote Deck” switch to ON. Attach the Low Current Deck Self-Test
Fixture to the Low Current Deck panel jacks.
From the PCW software select the “Runtime” – “Self-Test” – “LCD Test” menu item.
Click the “Start” button. Successful Low Current Deck self-test will display “LODECK
OK”.
It is common after first receiving the Low Current Deck that an error code will result
from self-test due to the mercury relays not being settled. If an error occurs, confirm
all cable connections and switch positions and run the LCD Self-Test again.
Use the “Runtime” – “Self-Test” – “LCD Block” menu selection to run a specific block
for troubleshooting (see Section 8.4.3 for the Block error codes).
It is good practice to run both the 5000 Series Tester self-test and Low Current Deck
self-test at least on every system power up.
