Hazards from noise emission
CAUTION
Noise emission. When welding certain materials, the noise
level may exceed 70 dB(A).
Danger of hearing damage!
If the noise level exceeds 70 dB(A):
• Wear hearing protection.
• Install sound protection cover (optional).
• If necessary, the operator must carry out a noise emission
measurement at the operating site and make it compulsory
that hearing protection be worn.
• The operator must make it compulsory that personal protec-
tive equipment be worn.
NOTE
Limit values:
According to the current state of knowledge, ultrasound
causes no damage if the maximum level is below 140 dB and
the average level over the course of an 8-hour day is linearly
below 110 dB.
In the case of a 20 kHz application, the system integrator must
make it compulsory for the user to wear hearing protection, for
example by attaching an appropriate sticker to the machine, or
protect the user from noise emission by installing a sound
enclosure.
Audible noise is considered harmful to hearing if the energy
equivalent continuous sound level reaches Leq = 88 dB(A)
and more (based on an average working period of 8 h/day,
max. 2000 h/year).
The borderline for hearing impairment is an energy equivalent
continuous sound level ranging between 85 to 87 dB(A) per
day or week and pulse noise with a peak value LPeak of more
than 140 dB(C).
Additional measured values can be found in the "Sound
measurement record of RINCO systems" No. 920-3903/1.95.
Hazards from materials
WARNING
Depending on the material, the workpiece and tool may
become very hot during welding and cutting.
Danger of fire!
• Provide a fire extinguishing system if necessary.
• The user must obtain specifications (safety data sheet) for
every material used and check them for possible hazards
caused by ultrasonic processing. The user is also respon-
sible for the proper disposal of residual material.
• The operator must make it compulsory that personal protec-
tive equipment be worn.
