9 ADJUSTMENTS
9.1
FAN BELT TENSION ________________________________________________
The tension on the belt is correct when the belt can
be depressed 7 to 9mm (0.28 - 0.35in) under a load of
10kgf (22lbs) midway between the crankshaft pulley
and the alternator pulley. To adjust:
(a) Release the two bolts (A ) holding the alternator
and adjust alternator until the tension is correct.
(b) Re-tighten the bolts securely after adjusting.
9.2
DIVERTER VALVE OPERATING MECHANISM ___________________________
The clearance between the divertor valve spool and
the adjusting screw should be 1mm (0.04in) when
the lifting arm is in the raised position. To adjust:
(a) Release the locking nut (A).
(b) Adjust the screw (B) to obtain correct clearance.
(c) Tighten locking nut (A).
9.3 THROTTLE LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT ______________________________________
If it becomes necessary to adjust the engine r.p.m.
It should be carried out as follows:
NOTE:
Throttle linkage adjustment should be
carried out with the engine switched off.
(a) Slacken lock nuts (B) on connecting rod (C),
screw rod (C) to increase its length for higher
engine speeds or screw rod (C) to decrease
its length for lower engine speeds.
(b) Tighten the lock nuts (B) on the connecting rod,
start engine and set hand throttle to maximum
engine speed. Check speed on instrument panel
read out.
NOTE:
DO NOT exceed the maximum engine speed of 2850 r.p.m.
(c) If any further adjustment is necessary, stop engine and repeat instructions in 'a' and 'b'.
NOTE:
If insufficient thread is engaged in ball joints during adjustment the throttle cable will have to be
repositioned at the swivel clamp and instructions 'a' and 'b' repeated.
