Switching Power Supply Circuit
The Switching Power Supply circuit converts unregulated 28VDC to several
regulated voltages that are required by the Operator Control Panel Circuit.
Pulse-Width Modulator (PWM) U21 chops DC to AC. Transformer T1 steps
down the AC voltage, which is then rectified and filtered. The reg5
VDC provides voltage for logic IC’s in the Operator Control Panel Circuit. The
v3.3 VDC is required for operation of LCD Controller U12. +12 VDC
is needed for the CFL Driver, and input to the coil of relay K1. Adjustable volt-
age -7 VDC to -24 VDC is needed for the LCD displays.
Potentiometer R17 adjusts the intensity of the LCD display. There is a differ-
ent operating voltage range between the two LCD displays. The Odyssey LCD
voltage range is -16V to -24V, and the Quest -8V to 16V. In order to set the
Quest voltage range JP12 must be install.
Front Panel Key Activation Detection Circuit
The detection of a pressed key on the Front Panel of the Operator Control
Panel is sensed by 8-Bit Driver U7 and 8-Bit Latch U8. 8-Bit Driver U7 scans
the matrix arrangement of the key switches set by 8-Bit Latch U8. Microcon-
troller U3 controls the scanning timing of the key switches. The data sent for
scanning and reading is transferred over the DATA/ADDRESS bus.
Jumpers Installation
The following jumpers must be installed for proper operation of the OCP: JP1,
JP6, JP7, JP10, JP11, JP12 (only on Quest). If EXPOSE and PREP will be input
through remote hand switch only (i.e., connected to TB1), then JP6 and JP7
should be removed. This prevents operation of the Expose and PREP Front
Panel key switches.
TechVision Compatibility
To interface the generator with an optional "TechVision" supplementary oper-
ator control panel on Q-VISION equipped systems or integrated CR/DR imag-
ing systems, the generator must be equipped with an optional OCP Interface
Board AY40-073S ("Q-Connect option"). The Q-Connect option enables bi-
directional Ethernet communication between Q-VISION OCP or the DR/CR
system’s computer workstation and the x-ray generator. In the case of an
integration system, the exposure technique settings can be set either from
the DR/CR workstation computer’s screen, which functions as the generator’s
operator control panel, or from a TechVision operator control panel.
GENERATOR LOGIC CIRCUIT
The Logic Circuit controls the exposure sequence, based on settings and control
signals received from the Operator Control Panel Circuit. In Standby, PREP, and
Expose states, the Logic Circuit controls and monitors the Filament Regulator
Control Circuit, KVP & Filament Control Circuit, Rotor board, Interface board, Line
Monitor Circuit, and the AEC Circuit (when equipped).
