Compression
The DXi3500 and DXi5500 systems are configured with the
Optyon™ hardware-based compression card. With an Optyon
card installed in your system, unique data that has been through
the de-duplication process can be compressed at a ratio of 2:1.
This enables you to maximize the storage capacity of your system
as well as increase overall backup performance.
D
Data De-duplication
Data de-duplication refers to the elimination of
redundant data. During this process, duplicate data is ignored,
leaving only one copy of the data to be stored. Indexing data is
retained and used to restore the previously deduplicated data.
Since only the unique data is stored on the system, the amount of
required storage space is reduced.
DLT
Digital Linear Tape technology is owned, developed, and
manufactured by Quantum Corporation. DLT tape drives use
half-inch wide tape.
