Handling Precautions
Section 9-5
Inspection Items
Inspect the following items to see if they deviate from the prescribed stan-
dards. If any items do deviate from the standard either adjust so they are
within the operating range or adjust the Board accordingly.

Handling Precautions
The Controller Link Support Board is a Network device. If the Board is dam-
aged, it will effect the entire Network, so always ensure repairs are under-
taken immediately. We recommend that you have a spare Controller Link
Support Board on hand so that repairs may be conducted quickly.
9-5-1
Replacing the Unit
Observe the following precautions when replacing the Board.
• Always turn OFF the power to the computer before replacing the Board.
• Check that the new Board is not faulty.
• If you suspect that a poor connection is the cause of a malfunction, clean
the connector terminals using a clean, soft cloth and industrial-grade alco-
hol. Remove any lint or threads left from the cloth, and remount the
Board.
• When returning a faulty Board for repairs, always attach a detailed fault
report to the Unit and return to you nearest OMRON outlet as listed at the
back of this manual.
Note
In order to prevent faulty operation be sure to turn off the power to all nodes
before replacing the Board.
9-5-2
Replacing the Board
Note
1. When replacing the Board, do not reconnect that node to the Network be-
fore carrying out the procedures listed below. In particular, a node with a
small address will become the polling node and communicate the initial
network parameter status to other nodes, so there is the chance that net-
work parameters in the entire Network will be damaged.
2. The data link table, network parameters, and routing table are stored in the
Controller Link Support Board’s EEPROM. When the Board has been re-
placed, make these settings again before starting operation.
