You can sort or search on a list of the charts on the CD,
including chart numbers, names, and usage, and display
detailed information about the charts. To the right of the
OPTION
column is a red vertical slide bar, which is relative to
the size of the list of charts on the CD. The smaller the slider,
the larger the list; the larger the slider, the smaller the list. The
slider also indicates your relative position in the list.
NOTE:
To list charts on a different CD, simply remove the existing CD,
insert the different CD into the drive, and press the
RE-SCAN
DISK
key. These charts will be listed on the
CHARTS ON DISK
screen.
Using demo mode
You can use demo mode to simulate navigation—without
actually being on your vessel or connecting the 961/962 with
an antenna. Demo mode is useful for training purposes, or for
looking ahead to a planned destination, or for just practicing
some of the functions. In demo mode, you can place your
vessel anywhere in the world, and can specify a course and
speed. Dead-reckoned position information is generated as if it
was coming from GPS fixes. Whenever you go to a new
position or otherwise change your desired track, changes in
your dead-reckoning course will correspond.
You have the option to simulate NMEA and PPNM (pulses per
nautical mile) output for 10 minutes while in demo mode.
With this option, any connected systems will believe that the
961/962 is operating with real GPS information, and will
output data for 10 minutes.
Starting demo
mode
Before you start demo mode, you must first set your starting
position:
1. Press the
STAR
key until you reach the
SETUP MENU
screen, then press the
DEMO SETUP
key.
