IN and OUT keys
Each press of the
IN
key zooms in to double the chart scale;
each press of the
OUT
key zooms out to halve the chart scale.
Cursor pad
The cursor pad’s
purpose
The
CURSOR PAD
is located in the lower right-hand corner,
and has two similar functions; how you use the
CURSOR PAD
depends on what function you’re performing on the
CHART
screen or other screens. If you’re navigating on the
CHART
screen, the
CURSOR PAD
is used to move the on-screen
square cursor to designate a position on the chart. If you’re at
other screens, however, the
CURSOR PAD
is used to highlight
different selections of data.
Using the cursor
pad on the chart
screen
On the
CHART
screen, you can move the
CURSOR PAD
in an
up-to-down, left-to-right, or diagonal direction. You can move
the cursor diagonally by pressing between any two of its arrow
indicators. The longer you hold the
CURSOR PAD
, the faster
the cursor moves. To carefully move the cursor small
distances on the
CHART
screen, the easiest way is to place
your thumb in the center of the
CURSOR PAD
and gently
push left, right, up, or down. This method gives much finer
control than poking at the edge of the
CURSOR PAD
.
CAUTION!
Some autopilots try to steer your vessel according
to any bearing changes made by the 961/
962—regardless of the severity of the change.
Other autopilots automatically disengage when a
severe or abrupt turn is required. For information
about implementing MOB while using an autopilot,
refer to your autopilot’s manual.
