Chapter 8 - Creating Routes
961/962 Operations and Reference Manual, Rev. A
Page 8-15
3. Press the
CURSOR PAD
up or down to select the first
waypoint, then press the
INSERT
key. You can also use
the search function to find the first waypoint.
The first waypoint is added to the route.
4. For each waypoint you want to add, repeat step #3.
Each waypoint is added to the route. The graphical
representation, and the total length of the route as you
insert waypoints, are displayed on the left side of the
screen. The numerical listing is displayed on the right
side.
When adding waypoints, you can press the
MOVE UP
key
and the
MOVE DOWN
key to select an insertion point in
the route; pressing and holding either of these keys lets
the key “auto-repeat,” which moves you up and down the
list more quickly than single keypresses. You can also
press the
DELETE
key to remove the selected waypoint.
When you’ve finished adding waypoints, press the
DONE
key to return to the
ROUTES
screen. The route is
displayed in the list.
To change this route, see “Editing a route at the routes screen”
starting on page 8-17.
NOTE:
You may want to make your dock the first waypoint of a route. This
ensures that when you reverse the route, you’ll be guided the entire
way home—not to a last waypoint still out on the water.
Copying a route
If a new route will be similar to an existing one (for instance,
the standard route from your home port to the open ocean),
you can copy the existing route, then change its
characteristics to create a new route. You can copy the existing
route’s waypoints (in a normal or reverse direction), enter a
new name for the new route, then, if desired, edit the route.
To copy an existing route:
1. At the
ROUTES
screen, press the
CURSOR PAD
up or
down to highlight the desired route to copy, then press
the
COPY
key.
